T.G.I.F - Thank God It's Fashion Friday!
I don't just tell the Curvy Girl story, I like to tell fashion stories too. That's why I bring you Fashion Fridays, where I profile interesting designers, fashionistas, and trends.
For the month of May's Fashion Fridays series I'm parterning with blogger and e- commerce owner Jacque Amadi, sharing interesting designers and shop owners who market and sell exclusively online. These E-commerce divas have a lot to share about starting a business. Most importanly we're providing you with tools to create your own e - commerce empire. You can get Jacque's resource Build a Boutique, for a discounted price.
Today I'm featuing Joi Lanell owner and designer of Yatir Clothing. She actually got her start using the Build a Boutique resource. Her new collection will be released in June: Here's her story.
Q. How did you raise the money to start your business/line? Did you save, take loans, or ask family and friends?
A. I started Yatir with what I had, which was not much. My family was able to see that I was serious and they began to invest in my business as well. I'm currently branching out and expanding my brand and for this expansion I saved my money. I totally believe in being debt free, that's one of my major life goals.

Q. Why did you chose the platform you're on to sell your products?
A. I chose to use Shopify, after trying out several other platforms first, because for me it is the easiest platform to customize my online shop and has a ton of different features and apps that can be integrated into the site, not to mention it's very affordable.
Q. How did Build a Boutique help you with your business?
A. Build a boutique helped me out tremendously. It opened my eyes to quite a bit of free things that I could take advantage of to help grow my business. The main thing that stuck out to me was utilizing social media! There is so much that can be done, it's essentially free marketing, and you can connect with people all over the world.
Q. Advice you would give to a budding entrepreneur?
A. Never give up. Things will be challenging, everything will not go your way, and everyone will not support you. Always keep your vision in mind, don't get caught up in what the next person in your industry is doing, stay true to yourself and your brand.
Wondering what Yatir stands for? According to her website "the word "Yatir" is a hebrew word meaning the most successful point or the highest point of success."
